May 30- M spent the day with Ama, Ada, and Teddy. They went out for breakfast, and played outside. M has been taking nice long naps (in her bed) for Ada lately, and last night she slept in her bed from 10:30 to 5:00 which is a record!

Tonight after work, we played with our friends. First M and little A had their own playdate just the two of them, and then A's sister came over and played too. When E got home from school, the gang was all here! Then E and I went swimming while dada and M ran an errand. After swimming, I agreed that E could watch two programs.

Career

E: I don't want to build in dirt. Dirt is too dirty. I'm going to build in sand, and build sand castles all day. High five!

Momma on the phone

E: Momma, Momma!
A: [says noting]
E: Momma, momma
A: E, I was on the phone, what have I talked to you about that I can't do when I'm on the phone?
E: Say no.
A: [laughing]
May 29- The girls had another big day today, we started at Mickie's and then they went with Ama, Ada, and Teddy to the Children's Museum. We had dinner at their house tonight, and for some reason M was totally into the grill, she has always ignored it in the past, but today, she was on it. We played a little kickball, and had more Popsicles. M was a sticky mess, so had to have a quick tubby.

May 28- Teddy and I picked up E from daycare today, of course as soon as she saw him,she ran and hid. Then Teddy got to play with our friend with us. We played bubbles and sidewalk chalk (until M tried to eat it). All the kids got popsicals, which was one of the highlights of the night.

We had dinner with Grandma and Grandpa, which was lovely, it had been a while since we'd gotten together. They were impressed by M's rice eating.

May 27- After work today we went over to A and A's house to play. We were trying to play outside, but it started raining. Fortunately, once the Frozen soundtrack was turned on, it was an instant party! The girls sang and danced a long time.

May 26- We had our first trip to the swimming pool today, E loved it, M wasn't too sure. I think she was bothered by not being able to walk and climb steps like she can on land. But, I'm not totally sure what set her off. By the time dada was back from the doctor M was screaming and ready to get out.

We spent the day around our house playing with A, A, and R. They all went swimming and had some nice long play sessions outside. In fact, dada took E to see the Muppet movie, and M and I played outside with A and A for the entire movie. We had dinner with Ama, Ada, and Teddy at Culvers and M loved her chicken tenders!

May 25- We went back to Ama and Ada's today and they got out the blow up pool. Both girls had a great time swimming and sliding into the pool. M even played some disc golf. In the evening we had dinner at Great Gramma's house (even though E wanted "regular gramma"). M is getting pretty comfortable at Great Grammas.

May 24- as the first day of Uncle Weekend, the girls and I went to the farmers market on the square with Ama, Ada, Teddy and Nate. We had popcorn (E and M's favorite part), spicy cheese bread, cheese curds, and lemonade. It was a wonderful morning. After quiet time we hung out at Ama and Ada's house and grilled out.

May 23- Today, at long last, we got to play with our friend "baby" K. Now, K is almost three, but when E first met her, she was a baby. So the name has stuck. I'm guessing K will always be a baby in E's eyes. M had a good time at her house, there were lots of new things for her to see and play with, and even new snacks to taste.

When we were done playing, we had Chinese food at Hy-Vee, one of E's favorite foods and favorite places to eat. To celebrate the kick off to "uncle weekend" she even got a frosting cookie for dessert.

May 21- Tonight we had a showing at our house. Even though we are not listed right now, our neighbor knew we wanted to sell, so we set it up. I tried to corral the girls while dada "sold" the house. We will see what comes of it. The girls had a great time with the sand table and played with water. After the showing they got to play with balloons, which were a big hit.

Despite the late night, both girls were raring to go all day, while the parents were ready for bed!

May 20- We got some good outside play in with A and R tonight. Both girls had a terrible time at bed tonight, E didn't fall asleep until around 11:30, and while M went to bed around 7:30, she was up an hour later, and then at 10. I don't think we went to bed until 12.

M visited Great Gramma today, and Ada reported that she seems to be feeling more comfortable around Great Gramma's house.

May 19- This was M's first day in her new, "big girl" car seat. So far, I can't really tell if she likes it. She hasn't been able to fall asleep in it yet, which might be a problem. M and Ada came to coffee break today, M was a little clingy around all the "strangers." She and Ada hung out around the Union for awhile after break before making their way home.

May 18- We had a perfect weekend day playing outside today. E and I started the day at Ama and Ada's house to look at pictures, E announced that she was going to have pancakes and sausage outside, so she got her picnic. We played outside at home for a LONG time, and finally got the do the gardening that we put off on Mother's Day.

May 17- Today we went to Circus World Museum for opening day. We've tried to make it on opening day for the last couple years. This year, we went with friends for the first time. We went with A and R and their moms to see the magic show, circus, and play at the playground. E was even brave enough to try the bounce house. M enjoyed the circus, we learned that it is really important to sit in the first row, so that M has room to explore!

May 16- To celebrate the end of a long week, we decided to order pizza. I can't tell you the last time we had pizza from a restaurant. M insisted on her own piece, but only picked off the toppings.

May 15-

May 14- Tonight was E's last spring program at KJ. The whole family was there, and loved the program. They sang a song about flowers and Pete the Cat. M was pretty patient watching the show, although she and Ada did have to take a little walk around the school.

May 13

May 12- Tonight Grandma and Grandpa brought over dinner. It was the perfect way to ease back into the week after everyone had been sick.

May 11- We had a lovely Mother's Day. I was completely spoiled by my family. I started out the day lounging in bed while dada had the girls. They brought me coffee in bed, and then made me breakfast in bed. After a little while, we headed out to get our first free ice cream of the day and then to pick out plants. After quiet time, again with me relaxing, we met my parents for some more free ice cream. Then, my parents babysat for a bit, so we got a chance to go for a drink. It was the perfect holiday.

We saw Grandma and Grandpa briefly for a quick visit. They liked the flower pot that the girls painted.

May 10- Today we celebrated Mother's Day with Ama, Ada, Great Gramma, Norma, and S. E had a great time playing with a big girl, and showed off all the things she could do. We got to play at the playground, where I got to see M go down giant slide, grinning the whole way. She gets to the top with Ama, Ama holds her as long as she can, and then I caught her when I could reach. She loved it. M's big milestone today was her first great gramma cookie, it disappeared in no time!

This morning we had E's last swimming lesson, she did a great job, and can even swim across the whole pool by herself, using just a float belt. Dada and M stayed home for a nap. We had a picnic lunch outside and did some work in the garden.
May 9- This morning, Ada had to come and pick up M because dada was home from work sick, and E and I had Muffins with Mom at her school. After I picked up the girls, we had to run an errand for the mother's day gifts we were making, and then we finally got home to play. After being sick, M's appetite came back tonight, which was nice to see, she and dada also got to do some solo playing in  the basement, which we could tell she'd been missing.

We had a stand off with E tonight over eating one bite of mushroom at dinner. She wasn't leaving the table till she did it, and she kept asking to but put to bed, rather then eating the mushroom. She finally ate it when I told her she could water plants once it was gone.

May 8- painting pots with two girls was a messy job. Somehow, I ended up being the one covered in the most paint, I'm not totally sure how that happened. M even got into the painting (a little).

This was a bit of a crazy day, dada was sick, so the girls and I walked to Panera to pick up dinner, its a nice walk with lots to see and do on the way, so we were able to stay out of dada's hair for a nice long time.

May 7- Its starting to be a morning tradition that we carry E in to snuggle with her sister when its time to get up. E is never ready to get up in the mornings, it comes from staying up to late playing in her room at night, so we started just picking her up and putting her our room, she gets to wake up a little slowly, since we are running around getting ready.

M was still a little under the weather today, she went to sleep very late last night, so she was zonked in the morning. She  had a hard time going to bed again this night.

May 6- This is a jump rope that E got for Easter. For some reason, M loves playing with the two ends. She usually tries to fit them together. They don't fit together and it makes her so frustrated. She always brings them to me with a somewhat betrayed look on her face.

May 5- Here's M just coming down with her fever. She go the Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease that E had. Today, we make a rookie parenting move. It was teacher appreciation day, so we wanted to take advantage of Applebee's offer, M cried the whole time we were waiting for a table, and for much of the meal, this is so out of character for her, you know she must have been miserable.

May 4- For some reason, M became fascinated with E's shoes. She would grunt for help, until we put them on her, then she'd march around the room. She never actually fell, which I couldn't believe!

Today, I got to take E to see the Princess and the Pea at the Barrymore Theater, it was her first time being in such a theater, and only the second play she'd ever seen. We had a great evening, we started with dinner at McDonalds (of course) and the headed to the play in our "beautiful dresses" she ate her "wookie cookie" at the play, and told me that the cookie had too much wookie in it!

E and dada went to urgent care today because she started developing spots, turns out she had the case of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease that has been going around daycare.

May 3- Today we got to play with our friend E, and the girls had a wonderful time. They got to spend some nice time outside, and we broke out the spray bottles. It was one of little E's first times with a spray bottle, and I think she might be hooked. M too the chance to put everything in her mouth, of course. Her green bottle of bubbles she plays with empty, since she dumped it earlier, but she's got sidewalk chalk in the picture, which she is busy eating.

May 2- Ever since we got the new play kitchen, M had been loving playing with our play food. We keep it in a big bucket, and she likes putting the lid on and off, and dumping out the food.

E and I stayed home from school today because she was coming down with something, so we hung around the house and watched too much TV!

May 1- We took May Baskets to our friends A and R today.

April 30- Pick me up please!
